Cowboys, 49ers Could Be in the Mix for Stefon Diggs
The initial waves of NFL free agency have passed, but that doesn’t mean big moves aren’t still on the horizon. With several Pro Bowl-caliber players still available, teams like the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers could find valuable additions at discounted prices.
One name that continues to generate buzz is wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Both Dallas and San Francisco have major question marks at the position, making the four-time Pro Bowler an intriguing fit.
Why Diggs Makes Sense for Dallas and San Francisco
The 49ers made headlines by trading Deebo Samuel to Washington, leaving them with a gap in their receiving corps. Meanwhile, the Cowboys were already in need of a second weapon alongside CeeDee Lamb, and their situation worsened when Brandin Cooks signed with New Orleans.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Diggs could be an ideal fit for either team.
“With the likelihood that he won’t be fully cleared until at least training camp, the best place for him would be with a contender where he wouldn’t have to be the guy. San Francisco would make sense at the right price. Dallas might, too, with his brother already there.”
Diggs is recovering from a torn ACL and wouldn’t be available immediately, but his resume speaks for itself. Before his injury in Week 8 last season, he was on pace for his seventh straight 1,000-yard campaign.
Will Either Team Make a Move?
For the 49ers, the question is whether they see Diggs as a long-term solution or if they’d prefer to address the position in the draft. Dallas, on the other hand, could benefit from adding Diggs to reunite him with his brother, cornerback Trevon Diggs.
At the right price, either team could land a proven playmaker who thrives in big moments. If Diggs is willing to be patient with his recovery and join a contender, his next stop could very well be Dallas or San Francisco.
