NFL Mock Draft Shake-Up: Giants Slide Down the Board

The New York Giants are staring at a critical 2025 NFL Draft, with head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen needing a big win to turn things around. Sitting at No. 3 overall, they have a chance to snag a top-tier player—unless they decide to trade down, which is exactly what one mock draft predicts.

Giants Trade No. 3 Pick for Extra Second-Rounders

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell recently cooked up a draft scenario where every team makes a trade. His take on the Giants? They move down from No. 3 to No. 8, swapping picks with the Carolina Panthers in exchange for the 57th overall pick this year and a second-rounder in 2026.

Why? If the two best quarterbacks go off the board before the Giants pick, they might not love their remaining options. Barnwell points out that while a player like Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter would be valuable, New York needs to focus on their long-term QB situation and offensive line help.

But there’s a catch—Daboll and Schoen may not be around to use that 2026 pick if the Giants don’t show serious improvement this season.

Who Would the Giants Take at No. 8?

Trading down means missing out on elite prospects like Hunter and Carter, but it also opens the door to other impact players. Offensive linemen like Armand Membou, Kelvin Banks Jr., and Will Campbell could be in play. And if they want to add some firepower, a dynamic running back like Ashton Jeanty could make an immediate difference.

The trade-off is clear: more picks to address multiple needs, but at the cost of a top-three talent. If the Giants go this route, fans will be hoping they get it right—because another rough season could mean a whole new regime calling the shots in 2026
