The Detroit Lions wrapped up the 2024 regular season with a bang — going 15-2, their best record ever, and locking down the NFC North title for the second year in a row under head coach Dan Campbell.
They weren’t just winning, they were dominating. The Lions led the entire NFL in scoring, putting up a wild 564 points (that’s 33.2 per game), and their defense wasn’t far behind, finishing seventh in points allowed. That gave them a massive +222 point differential.
A huge part of that success? Center Frank Ragnow. But on Monday, at just 29 years old, he announced he’s hanging it up and retiring.
Not long after the news broke, Lions QB Jared Goff showed love on Instagram, resharing Ragnow’s post with the message, “THE GREATEST ❤️.”
Ragnow, who was drafted 20th overall back in 2018 out of Arkansas, quietly became a rock for Detroit’s offensive line. He started every one of his 96 games, picked up four Pro Bowl honors (2020, 2022–2024), and was named second-team All-Pro three times.
His blocking was a big reason why Detroit had the top-scoring offense in the league. And speaking of that offense — Goff had himself a monster season, putting up 4,629 yards, 37 touchdowns, and completing 72.4% of his passes. He finished in the top five for all three stats.
After being the No. 1 overall pick in 2016 by the Rams, Goff has completely turned things around in Detroit. He helped lead the Lions to their first playoff win since 1991, and they even made it to the NFC Championship Game in the 2023-24 season.
This year, he grabbed his fourth Pro Bowl nod and even made NFL history in Week 4 by completing all 18 of his passes (minimum 11 attempts) in a blowout win over the Seahawks.
