Nick Saban’s coaching legacy at Alabama is well-known, but now he’s adding another achievement to the list: a Sports Emmy Award.
On Tuesday, Saban won the Emmy for Outstanding Personality and Emerging On-Air Talent. After retiring from coaching Alabama football in January 2024, he joined ESPN’s *College GameDay*, where fans have really taken to him.
The seven-time national champ beat out some big names, including retired Villanova basketball coach Jay Wright, who’s also won multiple titles.
When Saban teamed up with ESPN, he made it clear that he wanted to give coaches a platform to speak their minds—whether it’s about players, strategies, or anything else. And his first season on *GameDay* won’t be his last. He’ll be back for the upcoming college football season.
In 2024, Saban appeared on *GameDay* during two Alabama games: a home win against Georgia in September and a big road win over LSU in November. Earlier on Tuesday, Saban joked that it must’ve been a slow year for Emmy nominees for him to get the award. Even though he’s only been with *GameDay* for one season, he’s already delivered some unforgettable moments.
