Nick Saban Teams Up with Trump to Tackle College Sports and NIL Issues

Nick Saban just added another title to his long list — co-chair of Donald Trump’s new commission on college sports. The former Alabama football coach and current ESPN analyst is teaming up with Trump to take a closer look at issues in college athletics, especially around Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals.

According to reports, Saban recently met with Trump while the former president was in Tuscaloosa for a commencement speech at the University of Alabama. During that meeting, Saban reportedly expressed concern about how NIL money is affecting college sports. He believes the current system is creating an uneven playing field and hurting the integrity of the game.

Trump agreed with Saban and is now considering an executive order to address the issue. The new commission will be focused on reforming how college sports are run, especially when it comes to athlete compensation.

Saban won’t be doing this alone — he’ll share the role with a well-known businessman who has strong connections to college athletics.
