Ford & Lions Keep the Partnership Rolling: Ford Field Stays Home Through 2036
The Detroit Lions and Ford Motor Company are keeping their long-running partnership going strong, announcing an extension that will keep the Ford Field name in place through the 2036 season. The stadium has been the Lions’ home since 2002, making this one of the longest-running naming rights deals in the NFL.
Lions President and CEO Rod Wood made it clear this was a no-brainer. “Renewing our relationship with Ford was always a top priority. They were a key part of bringing the team back downtown in 2002 and continue to help grow our brand. We’re proud to have a legendary Detroit company’s name on our stadium for years to come.”
Ford CEO Jim Farley echoed the excitement, saying, “Ford and the Lions are a perfect match two iconic brands deeply tied to Detroit. Ford Field has been a huge part of the city’s comeback and has hosted some of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment. Just like Detroit, both our teams are built on hard work and grit, and we couldn’t be prouder to keep calling it Ford Field.”
Since opening in 2002, Ford Field has become a top-tier venue, hosting everything from Super Bowl XL to the NCAA Final Four and major concerts from artists like Taylor Swift, Eminem, and The Rolling Stones. The 2027 NCAA Men’s Final Four is already booked, and more big events are on the horizon.
With over 30 million visitors since its debut, Ford Field has been at the center of Detroit’s sports and entertainment scene. And thanks to this extension, it’ll stay that way for a long time.
