Noem Declares: New Border Wall Construction Kicks Off in Rio Grande Valley

Border Wall Construction Resumes as Kristi Noem Announces New Expansion

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem has confirmed that construction on the U.S.-Mexico border wall is back on. In a video filmed at the border in Nogales, Arizona, Noem pointed out where the existing wall ends and announced that work was beginning immediately on seven new miles in the U.S. Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector.

“We’re going to continue to make America safe again,” she stated.

The Department of Homeland Security followed up with a post on X, highlighting that under President Trump, border crossings have hit record lows and emphasizing efforts to stop the flow of drugs. In the video, Noem made it clear: “This is an announcement to the entire world—America’s borders are closed if you want to come here illegally.”

With the wall construction officially resuming, the administration is doubling down on its commitment to border security.
