Number Game: Cowboys Assign Jerseys, Solomon Thomas Lands a Familiar One

The Dallas Cowboys have been busy in free agency, and now they’re handing out jersey numbers to their new additions. Defensive lineman Solomon Thomas, along with running backs Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders, are among the fresh faces getting their Cowboys gear for 2025. Returning players, like defensive end Dante Fowler, also got new numbers as the team shuffled things around following the departure of longtime Cowboys like DeMarcus Lawrence and Jourdan Lewis.

Here’s the list of the latest jersey assignments:

3 – Dante Fowler

2 – Juanyeh Thomas

15 – Will Grier

20 – Kaiir Elam

23 – Buddy Johnson

27 – Miles Sanders

33 – Javonte Williams

57 – Jack Sanborn

59 – Kenneth Murray

63 – Dakoda Shepley

65 – Robert Jones

80 – Parris Campbell

90 – Solomon Thomas

98 – Payton Turner

Of course, these numbers aren’t set in stone—things can always change before the season kicks off, especially with more signings and draft picks coming in.

A few key changes stand out. The iconic No. 90, which belonged to DeMarcus Lawrence since 2014, now goes to Solomon Thomas. Juanyeh Thomas grabs No. 2, which was previously worn by Jourdan Lewis after he switched from No. 27. Meanwhile, Fowler takes over No. 3, which Brandin Cooks rocked for the past two seasons.

Quarterback Will Grier, now the only backup behind Dak Prescott after Cooper Rush’s move to the Ravens, reclaims his old No. 15—last worn by Ezekiel Elliott during his brief 2024 Cowboys comeback.

A few other notable switches:

Jack Sanborn steps into Buddy Johnson’s old number.

Robert Jones takes on a number previously worn by Cowboys linemen Andre Gurode and Ronald Leary.

Payton Turner inherits a number once donned by Greg Ellis, who briefly returned last season to help coach the defensive line.

Parris Campbell hopes to make an impact while wearing the number once worn by Tony Hill.

Javonte Williams takes on the legendary No. 33, once made famous by Tony Dorsett.

With these changes, a new chapter begins in Dallas. The Cowboys’ roster is still evolving, but the pieces are starting to fall into place.
