Several former Oklahoma Sooners are still alive in the NFL Playoffs, and there’s a real chance one of them could be a Super Bowl champion this year! As of now, 16 former OU players are competing, with only the Detroit Lions not having any Sooners on their roster. The Kansas City Chiefs have the most former Sooners of any remaining team, and they’ll be going up against the Houston Texans this weekend.
Here’s a rundown of the matchups:
Texans vs. Chiefs
Joe Mixon (RB) plays for the Texans, and he’s been having a great season. The Chiefs have a bunch of former Sooners like Marquise “Hollywood” Brown (WR) and Creed Humphrey (C), who’ll be protecting Patrick Mahomes as he looks to connect with Brown on deep passes.
Commanders vs. Lions
Tress Way (P) and Austin Seibert (K) represent the Washington Commanders, while the Detroit Lions have no Sooners at all. The Commanders knocked out the Bucs last week, and they’re the team to root for here.
Rams vs. Eagles
The Rams have Neville Gallimore (DT) and Drake Stoops (WR), though Stoops is on the practice squad. The Eagles, with stars like Jalen Hurts (QB) and Lane Johnson (OT), will be hoping to make it back to the Super Bowl, with Johnson helping protect Hurts after his recent injury.
Ravens vs. Bills
Mark Andrews (TE) will be a key player for the Ravens as they face the Bills, who have Jordan Phillips (DT) on their roster. This should be one of the most exciting games of the weekend.
