The Detroit Lions looked like one of the NFL’s top teams for much of last season, dominating opponents with a physical defense and explosive offense. Head coach Dan Campbell’s aggressive approach reflected the team’s hunger and confidence, but their playoff run ended with a disappointing loss to the surging Washington Commanders.
Despite that setback, Lions safety Brian Branch believes the team is in an even better place heading into the 2025 season.
“I feel like we’re better than last year. We’re hungry, and I feel that’s gonna separate us. Our chemistry is on a whole other level,” Branch said, via JPAFootball.
Branch’s comments come at a time of major changes for Detroit. The Lions lost both of their top assistants this offseason: defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn took over as head coach of the New York Jets, and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson became the head coach of the Chicago Bears. While some doubt how Campbell will manage without his trusted coordinators, Branch insists the team’s chemistry will carry them through.
Chemistry could prove crucial in 2025. Even without Glenn and Johnson, the Lions’ roster remains stacked with talent capable of challenging the league’s best. Detroit is one of the few teams that can legitimately go toe-to-toe with reigning Super Bowl champions, and they’re determined to prove they belong among the NFL’s elite.
The road won’t be easy, but if Branch’s confidence is any indication, the Lions aren’t backing down from the challenge ahead.
