Space Force Colonel Fired After Criticizing Trump Agenda in Email
The Pentagon just fired the commander of America’s northernmost military base, Pituffik Space Base in Greenland, over an email that didn’t sit well with the Trump administration. Col. Susannah Meyers was removed from her post after she sent a base-wide message basically saying she didn’t agree with what Vice President JD Vance had said during a recent visit.
In the March 31 email, Meyers wrote that the comments made by Vance and others during their visit didn’t reflect the values or reality of the base. She even emphasized that all national flags at the base should fly proudly and together a subtle jab at what she saw as political overreach.
Well, the Pentagon didn’t take long to respond. Less than two weeks later, she was officially removed due to a “loss of confidence in her ability to lead.” The Space Operations Command made it clear: commanders need to stay neutral and support the chain of command meaning Trump’s agenda.
Pentagon officials and GOP lawmakers backed the decision. They said her email was inappropriate and accused her of trying to politicize the Space Force. Senator Tuberville put it bluntly: “Get on board with the mission, or get out.”
Colonel Shawn Lee has now taken over at Pituffik.
The message from the top? Trump is president, and if you’re in the military, you’d better be aligned with his policies especially when it comes to strategic spots like Greenland.
