Turns out, the grass isn’t always greener.
Aaron Rodgers bolted from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets in 2023, eager for a fresh start. But two years later, as he weighs signing with either the New York Giants or Pittsburgh Steelers for the 2025 season, he’s suddenly longing for the kind of “culture” he had in Green Bay.
Rodgers Misses Green Bay’s Vibe
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Rodgers isn’t chasing the biggest paycheck—he wants a team that feels like home.
“At this point, my sense is that whatever Rodgers decides will come down to what he sees as the best football situation,” Breer wrote. “And along those lines, I’ve heard Rodgers is looking for a culture such as the one in Green Bay.”
That might sound ironic considering how rocky things got between Rodgers and the Packers front office before he left. But after two seasons in New York, Rodgers seems to have gained a new appreciation for the structure, stability, and tradition Green Bay offered.
Rodgers & the Packers: A Love-Hate Relationship
It wasn’t long ago that Rodgers was butting heads with Green Bay’s leadership. He openly disliked certain draft picks, free-agency moves, and even off-season programs like OTAs. Now, he’s looking for a team built similarly to Green Bay—enter the Steelers.
Like the Packers, Pittsburgh emphasizes homegrown talent and disciplined team culture. Unlike the Jets, the Steelers have a history of stability and success. If Rodgers signs with them, he’ll get a veteran roster and a legitimate shot at another Super Bowl ring.
But the real question is: Can he stick it out for a full season without drama?
