The New England Patriots are making more changes to their defense, and this time, it’s a blow to the defensive line. Daniel Ekuale, who had a breakout season, is leaving the Patriots for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The details of his new contract aren’t out yet, but it’s clear he’s been making waves.
Ekuale, who had played as a backup for much of his career, stepped up big time in 2024 after star defensive lineman Christian Barmore went down with blood clots. He played in all 16 games that season, setting career highs in both starts and tackles, with 52 total — more than double what he had in his first five seasons combined.
This move comes as the Patriots continue revamping their defense. Along with trading away Davon Godchaux, they’ve brought in new faces like Milton Williams and Khyiris Tonga to strengthen the line.
