Nobody really knows what the Miami Dolphins’ 2025 season will look like, but fans are hoping for a big improvement over last year. The pressure is on, and if they don’t at least make the playoffs and maybe win a game there could be serious changes. If that happens, it’s likely that head coach Mike McDaniel and possibly general manager Chris Grier won’t be around for much longer.
If things really go south during the season, McDaniel could be fired midseason, with defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver stepping in as interim head coach. If that happens, Weaver will probably get a shot at the permanent role after the season. Keeping him and possibly promoting someone from within for the GM position could help the team avoid another complete rebuild, which fans would definitely appreciate.
While a new head coach and GM might want to shake things up a bit, promoting from within could keep some of the continuity and stability that the Dolphins need. A full overhaul would mean a clean slate, which could come with a lot of turnover, making another rebuild likely.
So here’s today’s Phinsider Question of the Day: If things go wrong again this season, would you prefer the team to promote from within to keep some consistency, or would you want a whole new regime? And if you’re all about starting fresh, who would you want as the new head coach?
Maybe you think the team should’ve already made the change, or maybe you believe McDaniel and Grier deserve more time even if things don’t go as planned this season. Whatever your thoughts are, drop them in the comments!
