Positive Signs for Lions: Hutchinson Drawing Praise After First Team Sessions

The Detroit Lions didn’t just have a great 2024 season — they made history with a franchise-best 15-2 record. What’s even more impressive? They did it without their star defensive end, Aidan Hutchinson, for most of the year.

Hutchinson went down in Week 6 against the Cowboys with a brutal leg injury — a broken tibia and fibula in his left leg. It was a tough blow, but the former No. 2 overall pick didn’t waste any time diving into rehab. Now, as offseason workouts begin, there’s real optimism that he’ll be ready to roll for 2025.

New defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers gave fans the update they’ve been waiting for, saying Hutchinson looks “really good” so far. That’s exactly what Detroit wants to hear about their top pass rusher, who racked up 7.5 sacks and 17 QB hits in just six games last season before the injury.

In total, Hutchinson has played 39 games for the Lions, notching 122 tackles, 30 tackles for loss, 65 QB hits, and 28.5 sacks. The production has been elite, and if he can get back to that level, he’ll be a key force for a team with Super Bowl aspirations.

The next few months are about staying healthy through OTAs and camp, but early signs are encouraging. If Hutchinson keeps trending in the right direction, the Lions’ defense is going to be a problem for every offense they face.
