Predicting How the Lions Will Round Out Their 90-Man Roster

How the Lions Could Fill Their Remaining 24 Roster Spots

With 66 players under contract, the Detroit Lions have 24 open spots on their 90-man roster as they continue shaping their squad for the 2025 season. Based on their offseason trends from the past four years, here’s how they might approach filling those final positions.

Offensive Needs: The Lions could use more depth at running back, wide receiver, and tight end. Expect them to target a WR-X in the draft, possibly add a blocking tight end, and bring in extra competition at guard to solidify the offensive line.

Defensive Needs: Detroit may look to add a pass-rushing defensive tackle, another edge rusher for depth, and a future-minded linebacker. In the secondary, they’ll likely seek additional corners and a third safety to replace Ifeatu Melifonwu.

Special Teams: The Lions seem set with their kicker, punter, and long snapper but could still bring in camp competition.

With free agency still open and the draft approaching, expect Detroit to fill gaps through a mix of veteran signings, draft picks, and undrafted rookies.
