The New York Giants are bringing in some veteran experience at quarterback. According to reports, they’ve agreed to a deal with Jameis Winston, pending a physical.
Winston, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, has been around the league, playing for the Buccaneers, Saints, and Browns. Over his career, he’s thrown for over 24,000 yards, 154 touchdowns, and 111 interceptions, while also rushing for over 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns.
He had a standout 2019 season in Tampa Bay, becoming one of just nine quarterbacks in NFL history to throw for 5,000 yards in a single season. That year, he also set a wild record as the first player ever to throw for 450+ yards in back-to-back games.
Most recently, Winston spent 2024 with the Browns, playing in 12 games and starting seven. He averaged 291 passing yards per game and threw 13 touchdowns against 12 interceptions.
The former Heisman winner and national champion at Florida State also has some playoff experience—though it’s limited. He played in one postseason game for the Saints and made it count, throwing a 56-yard touchdown on his lone attempt.
Now, he’s heading to New York, likely as a backup or insurance policy at quarterback.
