Randle El Heads Back to Chicago, Joins Ben Johnson’s Coaching Team

Ben Johnson, the new head coach of the Chicago Bears, is quickly building his staff, bringing over two assistants from the Detroit Lions. Antwaan Randle El, the former NFL wide receiver and Pittsburgh Steelers star, is joining the Bears as their new wide receivers coach. Randle El, who played for the Steelers during their Super Bowl XL win, has been coaching since 2019, with his most recent role as the Lions’ wide receivers coach.

Alongside Randle El, J.T. Barrett, the former Ohio State quarterback and Lions assistant quarterbacks coach, will join Chicago as the quarterbacks coach. Barrett, who earned the Chicago Tribune Silver Football as the Big Ten’s best player in 2016, will bring his experience from Detroit to help develop the Bears’ quarterback group. In addition, Al Harris, a 14-year NFL cornerback and former Cowboys secondary coach, is expected to join the Bears’ staff as their new secondary coach. The Bears’ staff continues to take shape as Johnson aims to build a strong foundation for the team’s future success.
