Jalen Milroe Might Be the Perfect Risk for the Giants
Every draft has that one wild card QB who could either be a superstar or a total bust—and this year, that guy might be Alabama’s Jalen Milroe. He’s got raw talent, explosive speed, and enough athleticism to make defenders look silly. Think Lamar Jackson… but with a little more muscle.
Of course, there’s a catch. His passing game still needs work accuracy on short throws, decision-making under pressure, that kind of stuff. So yeah, he’s a bit of a project. But a project with serious upside.
Last season, Milroe threw for nearly 2,900 yards and 16 touchdowns, plus ran for 879 yards and 20 more scores. That’s no joke. He completed over 63% of his passes, but the eye test says he’s still learning how to command an offense from the pocket.
That’s where the Giants come in.
They’ve already got Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston on short deals, meaning they don’t have to throw a rookie into the spotlight right away. Milroe would actually get time to grow and learn without the pressure of starting Day 1. And with Brian Daboll who knows how to coach up mobile QBs this could be a great fit.
New York’s got young, fast receivers like Malik Nabers and Jalin Hyatt who could mesh well with Milroe’s skillset. If nothing else, the Giants could ease him in with special packages while he develops.
ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky even said if he could choose one landing spot for Milroe, it’d be New York. That’s high praise.
So if the Giants don’t go QB in the top of the draft, maybe Milroe in the second or third round could be a gamble worth taking. He’s a high-risk, high-reward pick but in the right place, it just might pay off big.
