The Detroit Lions are sending another player to the 2025 Pro Bowl, bringing their total to eight representatives. With the Super Bowl rosters finalized, the Pro Bowl lineups are undergoing last-minute adjustments. On Monday, the Lions announced that left tackle Taylor Decker will be joining the roster, stepping in for right tackle Penei Sewell, who won’t play due to injury.
This marks a significant milestone for Decker, as it’s his first Pro Bowl selection in his nine-year NFL career. The Lions drafted him in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and since then, he’s been a consistent presence at left tackle, making 126 career starts. This season, Decker earned a Pro Football Focus grade of 77.2, placing him 21st among all tackles. Initially named a third alternate, Decker now gets his opportunity with Sewell sidelined and Eagles tackle Lane Johnson heading to the Super Bowl.
The Lions will have several familiar faces representing the team at the Pro Bowl games, including quarterback Jared Goff, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, running back Jahmyr Gibbs, center Frank Ragnow, safety Brian Branch, and punter Jack Fox.
Details about Sewell’s injury remain scarce, but he appeared to get rolled up on during the Lions’ Divisional Round game against the Washington Commanders. He was later seen wearing a brace for the remainder of the matchup.
Fans can catch the Pro Bowl Games in a two-part event: the skills competition will air on Thursday, January 30, from 7-8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, and the Pro Bowl Games Championship and game will be broadcast on Sunday, February 2, from 3-6 p.m. ET on ABC and ESPN.
