Russell Wilson is weighing his options in free agency, and right now, he’s got his eyes on the New York Giants. But there’s a catch—his decision might depend on what Aaron Rodgers decides to do.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Giants are both in the mix for Wilson, but the Steelers seem to have Rodgers as their top choice. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Rodgers has offers from both teams, and Pittsburgh is willing to wait on him. That leaves Wilson in a tricky spot.
The Steelers view Wilson as a backup plan in case Rodgers turns them down. Meanwhile, Wilson sees the Giants as the better option since they’re not holding out for another quarterback.
New York also has the No. 3 overall pick in April’s draft, meaning they could grab a young QB, making Wilson more of a short-term solution. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, picks at No. 21, meaning they’d have to trade up to snag a top rookie quarterback.
Bottom line: If Rodgers picks Pittsburgh, Wilson could end up in New York. If Rodgers goes elsewhere, the Steelers might call Wilson back. Either way, it’s a waiting game for everyone involved.
