Rosie O’Donnell vs. Trump: Here’s Why She’s Back in the Headlines
Comedian and actress Rosie O’Donnell is back in the spotlight and not for a new show. This time, it’s because Donald Trump is coming after her… again.
Over the weekend, Trump posted on Truth Social threatening to revoke Rosie’s U.S. citizenship. He called her a “Threat to Humanity” and said she should stay in Ireland if they’ll have her. All this started after Rosie criticized Trump over the recent Texas flooding. She blamed his administration for slashing funding to the National Weather Service, which she said worsened the crisis.
Rosie didn’t stay quiet. She clapped back on TikTok, calling Trump a “disgrace” and a “mentally ill untreated criminal.” She even thanked The Apprentice producer Mark Burnett for helping Trump gain national fame, sarcastically adding how tragic it is that people fell for it. “It’s now or never, America,” she said.
For those who need a refresher Rosie O’Donnell made her name in the ’80s after winning Star Search. She starred in popular movies like A League of Their Own and Sleepless in Seattle, and later hosted The Rosie O’Donnell Show, which won several Emmys. She also co-hosted The View and has been a loud and proud voice on political and social issues for decades.
Outside of entertainment, Rosie’s known for her charity work especially her non-profit, Rosie’s Theatre Kids, which helps underprivileged children get access to arts education.
The back-and-forth between her and Trump is nothing new. They’ve had public beef for years. But with Trump talking about citizenship revocation now, things have definitely escalated.
