As the Detroit Lions prepare for a highly anticipated 2025 season, one wide receiver finds himself on the wrong side of the roster bubble—and no amount of money can guarantee his spot.
Despite a multi-million dollar contract and veteran status, the unnamed wideout is reportedly in danger of being cut before the regular season begins. Team insiders say it’s not about salary cap pressure, but performance, fit, and the impressive rise of younger talent in the receiver room.
“The NFL is a production-based league,” one Lions staff member shared anonymously. “If you can’t separate, can’t contribute on special teams, and can’t stay healthy, money doesn’t matter. You’re out.”
