With Aaron Glenn now at the helm of the New York Jets, speculation is mounting that he could target several former Detroit Lions players in free agency. According to NFL writer Tony Pauline, Glenn, who has an intimate knowledge of the Lions’ roster, is likely to pursue some of the players who flourished under his guidance as Detroit’s defensive coordinator.
One name that stands out is linebacker Derrick Barnes, who was a key defensive contributor for the Lions. Despite suffering a significant knee injury in 2024, Barnes’ potential could make him an appealing option for Glenn, who is already familiar with the 2021 fourth-round pick’s capabilities.
This could present a challenge for the Lions, as Glenn’s familiarity with the team’s defensive players gives him an advantage when trying to lure them to New York. As free agency approaches, the Lions will need to act quickly to retain key members of their defense before Glenn makes his move.
