Russell Wilson Gets Harsh 2025 Prediction Following Giants Signing

Russell Wilson is getting a fresh start with the New York Giants, but expectations for his 2025 season aren’t exactly high. After signing a one-year contract worth up to $21 million—$10.5 million guaranteed—Wilson is projected to throw for just 2,610 yards, 16 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, according to RotoWire. The 35-year-old quarterback also projects to add 183 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. While those numbers aren’t terrible, they don’t suggest Wilson will be the difference-maker New York needs to return to playoff contention.

Last season with the Steelers, Wilson played in 11 games, completing 63.7% of his passes for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also ran for 155 yards and two scores, helping Pittsburgh secure a postseason berth. But despite solid efficiency, the Steelers moved on, opting for a younger quarterback in Justin Fields.

USA Today’s Jacob Camenker gave the Giants’ signing of Wilson a “B” grade, praising the deal for its affordability and experience upgrade at quarterback. However, he was also realistic about the team’s chances, writing, “Nobody will mistake the Giants for contenders after signing Wilson, but he at least gives them an upgrade and some flexibility at a reasonable price.”

New York hopes Wilson can exceed those modest expectations and provide stability at a position that has been in flux. Daniel Jones, who struggled with injuries and inconsistency, remains on the roster but will now have to compete with a Super Bowl-winning veteran. Whether Wilson’s addition sparks a playoff push or simply serves as a bridge year for the Giants remains to be seen, but the veteran quarterback is once again betting on himself to prove he still has plenty left in the tank.
