Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta has earned a spot on the NFL Top 100 list for the second year in a row, landing at No. 94 in the 2025 rankings voted on by fellow players.
The annual list, which highlights the league’s best talent, kicked off this week with LaPorta’s ranking accompanied by a tribute video showcasing his highlights. Fellow star tight end George Kittle had high praise, calling LaPorta “a freak” and lauding the way Detroit’s offense designs plays for him.
LaPorta, 24, burst onto the scene in 2023 with one of the best rookie seasons ever for a tight end. While his production dipped slightly last year—finishing with 60 catches, 726 yards, and seven touchdowns—he still ranked among the top tight ends in the league. His creative touchdowns, including trick plays like a reverse flea flicker and a pass from RB David Montgomery, made him a nightmare for defenses.
Last year, LaPorta was one of five Lions players on the Top 100 list, alongside Jared Goff, Aidan Hutchinson, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Penei Sewell. With names like Jahmyr Gibbs, Kerby Joseph, and Brian Branch expected to join the list soon, Detroit could have an even bigger presence this year.
