A guy in New York was arrested after allegedly threatening to bomb the studio where Saturday Night Live is filmed.
NYPD says they got a bomb threat report around 7 a.m. on April 1st in Midtown, and they ended up arresting 48-year-old Michael Branham from Glen Head, NY the next day. He’s facing charges for making a mass harm threat and filing a false report. He pleaded not guilty, and his bail was set at $100,000.
Reports say Branham made the threat through a college in Connecticut, which then tipped off the authorities. Cops ended up deciding the threat wasn’t actually credible, but it still landed him in serious legal trouble.
Interestingly, his name matches a guy Scarlett Johansson once tried to get a restraining order against in California. That attempt didn’t go through due to a technicality. If you didn’t know, Scarlett is married to Colin Jost, one of the stars and head writers of SNL.
Branham’s lawyer tried to get his bail lowered, claiming he’s been scammed by people pretending to be Johansson online, and that someone else might’ve sent the threat using his info. So far, no word back from SNL, Johansson, or NBC on the situation.
