SB Nation Poll: 89% of Lions Faithful Expect Goff to Top Betting Lines

The results of the latest SB Nation Reacts survey are in, and Lions fans are overwhelmingly confident in quarterback Jared Goff heading into the 2025 season.

Despite throwing for at least 4,438 yards and 29 touchdowns in each of the past three years—including 4,629 yards and 37 touchdowns in 2024—FanDuel Sportsbook set Goff’s 2025 betting lines surprisingly low: 3,875.5 passing yards and 27.5 touchdowns. The conservative projections likely stem from the loss of offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to the Bears and center Frank Ragnow’s retirement, fueling national speculation about a possible regression for Detroit’s offense.

But Lions fans aren’t buying it. In the survey, 89% of respondents said Goff will surpass the projected yardage total, and 83% believe he’ll throw more than 27.5 touchdowns.

Here’s what fans had to say in the comments:

Bagels are for Champions: “If he’s healthy, he’s throwing for 4,000 yards easy. But if he only has 27 TDs, I’ll wonder why we’re not using our running backs more.”

Detroit_vs_everyone: “Yardage, yes. TDs, probably. He’s topped those numbers the past three years, but if they’re focusing on explosive plays, it could lead to more short rushing touchdowns.”

Izzo4POTUS: “How can someone average over 4,500 yards for three years and be projected under 4,000? Pure disrespect for Detroit.”

WarnerToBruce: “I have a strong feeling new OC John Morton will be called a ‘genius’ after this season. He’s got the tools.”

Despite national skepticism, Detroit fans clearly expect Goff to continue producing at an elite level in 2025.
