Shedeur Sanders Talks Backup QB Role Behind Aaron Rodgers with Steelers: ‘I Trust God’s Plan'”

Shedeur Sanders recently opened up about his potential role with the Pittsburgh Steelers during a chat with Kay Adams. While the Steelers are keen on adding Sanders to their roster, they’re not necessarily eyeing him as a starting QB   at least not yet. Instead, the plan seems to be to have Sanders serve as a backup behind veteran Aaron Rodgers.

Despite Sanders’ confident, high-energy persona, some have wondered if he’s ready for the backup role. But Sanders himself seems totally open to whatever comes his way. “I wouldn’t question what God has planned for me,” he said when asked if he’d be cool with being behind Rodgers on the depth chart.

That’s all assuming Aaron Rodgers actually ends up with the Steelers, though. While Pittsburgh has reportedly been working on a lucrative deal for Rodgers, the 42-year-old QB hasn’t made any concrete decisions yet. Some rumors even suggest Rodgers might be holding out for an offer from the Minnesota Vikings.

As for Sanders, he’s expected to be one of the top picks in the upcoming NFL Draft. He made a major impression during his Pro Day at Colorado, where he played QB. If he lands with Pittsburgh, he could help improve their performance after finishing second in the AFC North last season with a 10-7 record.

On a different note, Sanders’ confidence has raised some eyebrows. His trainer, Darrell Colbert, defended his attitude in a recent interview, saying it’s exactly the kind of mindset any coach would want from a QB. While some analysts and coaches see Sanders as cocky, Colbert argued that this swagger could help him fit in well with any NFL team.

The question remains: Can Sanders tone down his confidence enough to avoid stepping on too many toes, while still maintaining that edge that sets him apart? That’ll be one of the key things to watch as the draft approaches.
