Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff is gearing up for more than just a new NFL season—he’s preparing to become a father for the first time. He and his wife, Christen Harper, are expecting a baby girl, and the couple recently shared an intimate glimpse into this next chapter of their lives.
Christen, a seasoned Sports Illustrated model, took to Instagram on June 21 to post heartwarming photos of the pair. Some featured Goff gently holding her baby bump, others set against a serene beach backdrop—possibly one of the Great Lakes, if hopeful Michiganders are to be believed. One simple but poignant caption read:
“Just waiting for our girl.”
The response was instant and emotional. Comments poured in:
“These pictures just tell such a love story.”
“When you least expect it, she’ll be here. She will make her grand entrance.”
Christen Gets Candid About Pregnancy
Harper’s honesty about her pregnancy journey has resonated with many. In a recent episode of the Sunday Sports Club podcast, she shared what it was like shooting for Sports Illustrated while 18 weeks pregnant.
“I was really at this weird time, where I couldn’t really suck it in anymore,” she said with a laugh, “but also when I tried to stick it out, like, it wasn’t a real belly.”
She went on to describe how she was “bulking” for the shoot and navigating that in-between phase—where your body is changing, but you don’t yet have the full baby bump to show for it.
“It was the most challenging [shoot] because I didn’t fully feel like myself, but I didn’t have this bump yet that I was super proud of,” she said.
Christen added that she couldn’t indulge in margaritas while posing in bikinis, joking,
“It was a really weird in-between period. In the beginning part, you’re just getting to know your body and seeing it change.”
Goff & Harper: A Power Couple on and off the Field
The couple’s pregnancy announcement earlier this year came at the 2025 NFL Honors ceremony in New Orleans, where Harper subtly hinted at the news by holding her stomach on the red carpet.
Now, as Jared leads one of the NFL’s most exciting offenses into the 2025 season, he’s also preparing for his biggest personal adventure yet: fatherhood. And from the looks of it, both he and Christen are embracing every moment with grace, humor, and heart.
