The Detroit Lions made several roster updates on Thursday, with one notable move being defensive end Levi Onwuzurike landing on the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list. This designation means Onwuzurike is set to miss at least the first four games of the 2025 season.

The team hasn’t shared the specifics of his injury, leaving fans wondering about the extent of the issue. Onwuzurike, 27, played in 16 games last season, starting 10 of them. He recorded 28 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Since being drafted in 2021, he’s appeared in 42 games with 3.5 sacks. Notably, he missed the entire 2022 season due to a serious back injury, so this new setback raises concerns.

The Lions also placed veteran left tackle Taylor Decker on the active/PUP list. Decker has been a consistent presence since 2016, starting every one of his 126 career games. Like Onwuzurike, no details were provided about Decker’s current health status.

Additionally, cornerback Khalil Dorsey, guard Miles Frazier, defensive tackle Alim McNeill, linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, and rookie defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo were added to the same list. McNeill, who just signed a four-year, $97 million extension, and Wingo are both recovering from knee injuries suffered last season.

Defensive end John Paschal and cornerback Stantley Thomas-Oliver were placed on the non-football injury list. Running back Anthony Tyus was released.
