Shocking Update: Is Micah Parsons on His Way Out of Dallas

Despite all the buzz, Micah Parsons and the Cowboys aren’t anywhere close to finalizing a contract extension. According to NFL insider Jane Slater, there haven’t even been “meaningful” talks yet.

Parsons is heading into the final year of his rookie deal, and while Dallas is expected to lock him up long-term, the timing remains unclear. With the price tag for elite defenders skyrocketing—just look at Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby—Parsons’ payday is only getting bigger.

Earlier reports claimed Jerry Jones had reached out to Parsons, hinting at an imminent deal. But Slater quickly shut that down, saying while discussions have started, they’re far from done.

Cowboys Don’t Have to Make Parsons the Highest-Paid Defender

Parsons will likely become one of the highest-paid non-quarterbacks in the NFL, but he’s not focused on breaking records. Instead, he wants Dallas to surround him with talent.

“It’d be nice to have good players around me,” Parsons said in December. “I don’t need $40 million per year if it means getting double-teamed every play. I want guys who can help me win championships.”

Former Teammate Calls Out Parsons Over Social Media Drama

While Parsons dominates on the field, his online presence has stirred up some drama. Former Cowboys teammate DeMarcus Lawrence, now with the Seahawks, recently criticized Parsons’ social media activity.

Parsons clapped back, calling Lawrence an “envious clown.” Lawrence wasn’t having it, firing back: “Calling me a clown won’t change the fact that I told the truth. Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left.”

Despite the drama, the Cowboys don’t seem too worried—after all, as long as Parsons keeps delivering All-Pro performances, they’ll likely tolerate a few Twitter battles.
