Sirianni Saw It Coming—The Exact Moment He Knew Philly Would Win It All

Nick Sirianni Pinpoints the Moment He Knew the Eagles Had Won Super Bowl LIX
The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t just win Super Bowl LIX—they dominated. After their heartbreaking loss to the Kansas City Chiefs two years earlier, they finally got their revenge with a 40-22 blowout victory.

The game was over long before the clock hit zero. The Eagles’ relentless defense shut out Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in the first half, racing out to a 24-0 lead. Despite Mahomes’ history of epic comebacks, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni knew this one was different.

Appearing on Pardon My Take, Sirianni revealed the exact moment he felt comfortable calling the game.

“In 2022, we were up 24-14 at halftime, and [the Chiefs] got the ball and went down and scored,” Sirianni said. “This time, we were up 24-0, and they were getting the ball again, so we knew how important that drive was going to be.”

But it wasn’t until Philadelphia extended their lead to 40-6 that Sirianni officially called it.

“I remember saying to our staff, ‘Let’s take the starters out,’” Sirianni recalled. “One of the coaches asked, ‘Coach, you sure?’ There was like six minutes left. And I go, ‘Yes, I’m sure.’”

Even after Kansas City added two late touchdowns to make the final score look more respectable, the outcome was never in doubt.

Sirianni credited the Eagles’ dominant performance but still acknowledged the challenge of facing one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time in Mahomes.

“That’s a phenomenal team we played, with phenomenal coaches and phenomenal players. But we knew—when it was 40-6 with five minutes left—we were there.”

The Eagles left no doubt in their Super Bowl revenge tour, and Sirianni knew exactly when the moment of triumph arrived.
