Smart Moves: 3 Players the Giants Should Trade Down For

The New York Giants are expected to stick with their current draft position and go for either a quarterback or Colorado’s versatile star Travis Hunter. But, as with anything in the NFL Draft, surprises happen. If the Giants decide to trade down—maybe thanks to a blockbuster offer from the Jets or a quarterback-hungry Raiders team—they could land some solid talent while stacking up future draft picks.

Here are three potential targets if New York moves down within the top 10:

1. Mason Graham (DT, Michigan)

Graham might not be the biggest name in the draft, but he’s got the talent to crack the top four picks. While he measured slightly smaller than expected during pre-draft workouts, his game film and athletic ability make him an intriguing prospect. Pairing him with Dexter Lawrence would give the Giants a dominant defensive front without spending a top-three pick on edge rusher Abdul Carter.

2. Will Johnson (CB, Michigan)

If there’s any argument against drafting Travis Hunter, it’s the debate over whether he’s the best cornerback in the class. If he’s not, then that title belongs to Johnson. The Michigan standout has been projected as a top-15 pick for months, and while he’s not the fastest corner, he makes up for it with elite instincts and ball skills. Adding him to the secondary would take pressure off Deonte Banks and round out a strong defensive backfield.

3. Armand Membou (OT, Missouri)

The Giants’ offensive line was a disaster early last season, but recent free agency moves have helped stabilize the group. Still, a long-term answer at right tackle is missing. Membou could be that guy. Drafting him would let New York shuffle its line, putting its best five blockers on the field. Plus, with his size and pass-protection ability, he’d be a crucial piece in protecting whichever quarterback the Giants roll with in 2026.

If New York trades down, it won’t just be about accumulating extra picks—it’ll be about finding impact players who can contribute immediately. Graham, Johnson, and Membou all fit that bill.
