Detroit Lions Lock In Ford Field for the Long Haul
The Detroit Lions are keeping things exciting this offseason with a big announcement Ford Field isn’t going anywhere!
After a historic 2024 season where they went 15-2 (a franchise best) before falling short in the Divisional Round, the Lions are gearing up for 2025 with new coordinators and coaching changes. But one thing remains the same: the name of their home turf.
On March 28, the Lions and Ford Motor Company confirmed that their stadium naming rights deal is locked in through at least 2036. Ford Field has been home to the Lions since 2002, making it one of the longest-running naming partnerships in the NFL. In that time, over 30 million fans have passed through its doors.
“Renewing our relationship with Ford Motor Company has always been a top priority for us,” said Lions President and CEO Rod Wood. “We’re proud to have a Detroit-born company’s name on our building for the foreseeable future.”
Ford’s CEO Jim Farley echoed that sentiment, calling the Lions and Ford “perfect partners” and highlighting how Ford Field has played a role in Detroit’s resurgence.
More Than Just Football
Ford Field isn’t just for game days it’s also one of Detroit’s top concert venues. Over the years, it’s hosted massive shows from artists like Taylor Swift, Eminem, The Rolling Stones, and Garth Brooks. In 2023, Kenny Chesney set a record with 560,000 attendees across 12 performances.
The 2025 lineup is shaping up to be just as big, with acts like Kendrick Lamar & SZA, AC/DC, The Weeknd, and Billy Joel & Stevie Nicks set to take the stage. The venue will also host the Michigan State vs. Maryland college football game.
So, Lions fans, rest easy Ford Field is staying put, and it’s ready for another decade of football, concerts, and unforgettable moments.
