Detroit Lions S Kerby Joseph Suffers Injury vs. Chiefs
The Detroit Lions just can’t seem to escape the injury bug. During Sunday night’s clash with the Kansas City Chiefs, safety Kerby Joseph went down on the field and needed assistance to walk off, according to Colton Pouncy of The Athletic.
> “Lions S Kerby Joseph went down. He’s now walking off the field slowly with help. He’s been dealing with a knee injury,” Pouncy reported on X (formerly Twitter).
Joseph, who entered the game listed as questionable because of a lingering knee issue, appeared to aggravate the same problem during the contest. The talented third-year safety has been one of the Lions’ key defensive playmakers this season, valued for his speed, instincts, and ability to generate turnovers in the secondary.
This setback couldn’t come at a worse time for Detroit. The team is already shorthanded on defense, missing several key contributors, including Terrion Arnold and Avonte Maddox. Losing another starter only deepens the challenge for a group that’s been fighting to stay healthy.
As of now, the Lions have yet to release an official update on Joseph’s condition. His slow exit, however, raises real concern about his status for the rest of the game — and possibly the coming weeks. Defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard may now need to dig deep into the roster to keep Detroit’s secondary afloat.
