Kelvin Sheppard has confirmed that he turned down other job offers to stay with the Detroit Lions as their new defensive coordinator.
Sheppard was previously the team’s linebackers coach before being promoted to defensive coordinator after Aaron Glenn left to become the New York Jets’ head coach.
When asked about the decision, Sheppard cited his strong relationship with head coach Dan Campbell as the main reason for staying with the Lions. He praised Campbell’s trust and support, saying it “means everything” to him.
Sheppard also mentioned that Campbell was one of the first people to encourage him to pursue a coaching career. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with Campbell and the Lions organization.
Sheppard’s decision to stay with the Lions is a significant development for the team, as they look to build on their progress from last season.
