Steelers Land Two Ohio State Stars in Latest Mock Draft
The Pittsburgh Steelers are projected to land Ohio State’s star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and running back Quinshon Judkins in the latest mock draft by ESPN’s Matt Miller.
With the offseason in full swing, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been involved in various rumors involving offseason moves to improve the team. The Steelers play in a tough division and need to compete with the best in the league to secure a playoff spot. With the bulk of the senior and upperclassmen “bowl games” coming to a close, the Steelers can have more clarity on who will project well to the next level.
Miller’s mock draft has the Steelers selecting Egbuka at No. 21 and Judkins at No. 52. Egbuka is described as a versatile player who excels as a slant-route runner, punt returner, and blocker. He caught 81 passes for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns in the past season.
“Egbuka does it all as a slant-route king,” Miller wrote. “He is a heck of a punt returner and one of the best blocking wide receivers, too. He doesn’t flash elite speed or size at 6-foot and 203 pounds, but he’s a smart route runner with solid hands (a drop rate of just 2.8%) and an all-out effort on every snap.”
The Steelers need a boost in their receiving corps, and Egbuka could be a valuable addition. He would bring a new dynamic to the team’s offense and provide quarterback Kenny Pickett with a reliable target.
Judkins would be a good replacement for running back Najee Harris, who is entering free agency. Judkins has the power and speed to make big plays, with 28 runs of 10 or more yards.
“Najee Harris is set to hit free agency, and his return to Pittsburgh is far from guaranteed,” Miller wrote. “Judkins would be an ideal replacement. He has the downhill power of Harris but better speed to rip off the chunk plays missing from the Steelers’ offense, as evidenced by his 28 runs of 10 or more yards.”
Both Egbuka and Judkins would be welcome additions to the Steelers. While the selection of two players from the same team may seem unlikely, it’s not impossible. The Steelers have a history of selecting players from top programs, and Ohio State is one of the best in the country.
Only time will tell if the Steelers will actually select Egbuka and Judkins in the draft. However, based on Miller’s mock draft, it’s clear that both players would be great additions to the team.
