The New York Jets continue to build their coaching staff under new head coach Aaron Glenn, securing longtime NFL coach Steve Wilks as their defensive coordinator. Wilks, who most recently led the San Francisco 49ers’ defense to a Super Bowl appearance, brings a wealth of experience to New York.
Glenn, the former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator, made it clear he won’t be calling plays, instead focusing on managing the entire team. That puts Wilks in a key position to lead a talented Jets defense featuring stars like Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner.
With Chris Banjo also nearing a deal to become the Jets’ special teams coordinator, Glenn is quickly assembling his staff. Next on the agenda? Sorting out the future of quarterback Aaron Rodgers and locking in an offensive coordinator, with Lions passing game coordinator Tanner Engstrand emerging as a top candidate.
