Super Bowl Dreams? Giants Land Star QB in Blockbuster Trade

The New York Giants just signed Jameis Winston to a two-year deal, but their quarterback situation is still a big question mark. They hold the No. 3 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, but that might not be enough to land top prospects Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders without trading up. And even if they do move up, there’s no guarantee those rookies will be the answer.

That uncertainty has led the Giants to explore all options—including reaching out to Aaron Rodgers and talking to Russell Wilson. But now, an even bigger trade rumor is making waves.

Craig Carton of Fox Sports floated a wild idea: the Giants should send three first-round picks (including a pick swap this year) to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for Brock Purdy. The move would allow the 49ers to sign Aaron Rodgers for 2025, while the Giants would lock in a proven young QB.

The price is steep—three first-rounders for Purdy, who was picked dead last in the 2022 draft but has since led the 49ers to an NFC Championship Game and a Super Bowl. However, compared to Rodgers (who turns 42 this year) and Wilson (who’ll be 37), Purdy is just 25 and could be a long-term solution for the Giants.

The big question: would the 49ers actually let him go? They’ve made major roster cuts this offseason, possibly to clear cap space to pay Purdy when his contract is up next year. Right now, his projected market value sits at $60 million per year for a four-year deal—big money, but possibly worth it for a decade-long franchise quarterback.

So, will the Giants make a blockbuster move, or will they roll the dice on a rookie? One thing’s for sure—this QB saga is far from over.
