T.J. Watt’s Patience Running Thin? Analyst Says Steelers Pushing Their Luck

T.J. Watt Might Be Fed Up With the Steelers, and It’s Easy to See Why

Steelers fans were buzzing on April 9 after T.J. Watt dropped a cryptic Instagram post one that made a lot of people wonder if he’s seriously unhappy in Pittsburgh. And apparently, it’s not just the fans noticing. NFL analyst Mark Schlereth thinks Watt has every reason to be frustrated, and he broke it down on  Breakfast Ball.

According to Schlereth, Watt’s likely irritated that the Steelers haven’t prioritized his contract extension, especially after seeing wide receiver DK Metcalf’s  who hasn’t done much for the team   get paid. On top of that, the team’s been openly eyeing Aaron Rodgers, which seems to be taking the spotlight away from their best player.

Watt’s been a major force for nearly a decade, yet it looks like other names are getting more attention and money. Meanwhile, Watt’s sitting back, waiting for a new deal, especially after Myles Garrett just scored a massive $160 million extension from the Browns   making him the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history.

Now, Watt didn’t exactly light it up in 2024, and at 30 going on 31, there are questions about whether he’s still worth top-tier money. The Steelers might be hesitant to pay $40 million a year if they think his best days are behind him. But from Watt’s perspective, he’s earned it   and he’s not trying to settle for less.

At this point, nobody knows exactly what Watt meant by his social media post, but the speculation is real. A trade seems unlikely, but the Steelers may have to cough up more money than expected if they want to keep their star happy.
