2025 NFL Mock Draft Kicks Off: Tennessee Titans Go All-In on QB Cam Ward
The 2025 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft is officially underway, and the Tennessee Titans wasted no time making their move. With the first overall pick, the Titans selected quarterback Cam Ward out of Miami, a choice that wasn’t exactly a surprise given the odds leading up to the draft.
According to Fanduel Sportsbook, Ward was the heavy favorite to go No. 1 overall, sitting at -1350 odds, with Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter trailing far behind at +600. While other quarterbacks like Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart were in the conversation, the Titans ultimately chose Ward as the leader of their future.
Why Cam Ward?
The Titans have been searching for stability at quarterback ever since moving on from Ryan Tannehill, and the Will Levis experiment in Nashville didn’t pan out. As the mock draft’s Titans GM, Erwin NCL, put it:
“Too many boneheaded plays, memes, and interceptions make the good plays moot.”
With new leadership in head coach Brian Callahan and general manager Mike Borgonzi, Tennessee is hitting the reset button on their offense. And Ward, a dual-threat quarterback with a dynamic playing style, fits the mold of today’s modern NFL passer.
Ward’s journey has been anything but traditional—he started at Incarnate Word (FCS), transferred to Washington State, and eventually landed at Miami, where he became ACC Player of the Year. His ability to adapt to different offensive systems while continuing to develop as a passer made him the safest bet in this class.
The Titans Move Forward
With Ward now locked in as Tennessee’s future franchise quarterback, the Titans hope to leave their QB struggles in the past and build a new identity under Callahan. As for whether this was the right move, that’s now up for debate.
Fans can vote on the pick, grading Tennessee’s decision. Did they make the right call, or should they have looked elsewhere? Either way, the 2025 NFL Community Mock Draft is off to an exciting start.
