The Detroit Lions have been sweating it out in training camp with Terrion Arnold sidelined, but there’s finally a light at the end of the tunnel. Head coach Dan Campbell delivered some promising news: Arnold’s low-grade hamstring injury isn’t as bad as feared, and the team hopes to have him back by midweek.
Lions Taking It Slow With Their Young Star
Arnold, who’s been dealing with not one but two nagging injuries — a calf issue earlier in camp, and now this hamstring — is a key piece of the Lions’ defense. Last year’s first-round pick showed flashes of brilliance, so it’s no surprise the coaching staff is treading carefully.
“It’s not a major hamstring,” Campbell reassured reporters. “But we’re trying to be smart with it… We’re hoping to have him back by the middle of the week.”
That’s a big relief for fans eager to see Arnold lock down his starting spot and continue his growth in Year 2.
Decker Progressing, Skipper and Yeboah Updates
Meanwhile, veteran left tackle Taylor Decker, the anchor of Detroit’s offensive line, is edging closer to full speed. Coming off offseason shoulder surgery, he’s back to individual drills but won’t join team activities just yet. Campbell noted Decker was moving well and should increase his workload soon — great news for Jared Goff and the Lions’ protection plans.
Dan Skipper, who left the preseason opener in a walking boot after an ankle injury, is expected to miss about a week. And tight end Kenny Yeboah, who gave everyone a scare in the Hall of Fame Game, dodged serious injury and should return to practice this week.
A Sign of Things Turning Around
The timing couldn’t be better. With Week 1 inching closer, Detroit needs its starters healthy and in sync. Arnold’s looming return, Decker’s progress, and positive updates on Skipper and Yeboah give fans a reason to smile.
So Lions Nation, hang tight — reinforcements are on the way.
