Big news for The Athletic—Connor Ennis is stepping in as the senior managing editor of the Daily Desk! A longtime editor with a deep passion for sports and storytelling, Connor will officially start on Monday, bringing his experience and love for the Mets and college sports to the team.
Connor has spent the last 18 years at The New York Times, where he led a team in the Business section covering power dynamics in sports. If you’ve read stories about NIL in college football, commercial breaks in the NFL, or gambling in pro sports, there’s a good chance he had a hand in them. He’s also covered big topics like the future of Inside the NBA and Salt Lake City’s sports ambitions.
His journalism career started in sports—first at the Associated Press, then at the Times, where he oversaw college sports and NFL coverage, including major events like the Jerry Sandusky scandal and the Giants’ 2011 Super Bowl win.
Now, he’s bringing all that experience to The Athletic’s Daily Desk, a new initiative focused on streamlining news coverage and giving reporters more time to go in-depth on their beats.
