The Detroit Lions are sticking with their current plan for the offseason, hoping for better luck with injuries after a rough season. But while they’ve brought back some key players and made a few smaller signings, they’re still in desperate need of a solid edge rusher. With a strong draft class in that position, they have options, but adding a veteran might be smart too.

There’s been talk of the Lions making a big trade for an edge rusher, though that’s probably a long shot. The Giants’ Kayvon Thibodeaux, who was drafted just after Aidan Hutchinson in 2022, has been mentioned as a potential target. He hasn’t exactly lived up to the hype in New York, but he did have a decent season in 2023 with 11.5 sacks. With the Giants potentially facing a tough decision on his future, it could be a good time to consider a trade.

However, the more we look into it, the less likely this trade is to happen. The Giants likely aren’t interested in moving Thibodeaux, and even if they were, the price would probably be pretty high for the Lions. So while the idea is intriguing, it doesn’t seem too realistic.
