The Detroit Lions could be getting ready to move on from cornerback Amik Robertson. After picking up Avonte Maddox this offseason, one analyst thinks Robertson might be on the trade block. He played all 17 games last year but wasn’t exactly a key starter, and with his contract expiring soon, the Lions may not see him as part of their long-term plans.

Fox Sports’ Ralph Vacchiano pointed out that Detroit already brought in D.J. Reed to fill a bigger role after losing Carlton Davis, and then added Maddox—another nickel corner. That leaves Robertson in a tight spot, and if the Lions like what Maddox brings more, they might shop Robertson before the draft.

He could even be a bonus piece in a draft-day trade if the Lions decide to move up in the first round to grab a defensive edge player. Guys like Mykel Williams or Shemar Stewart are possible targets if they trade up to a spot like No. 15.

In short—Robertson’s time in Detroit could be winding down, especially if the team sees more upside in newer faces.
