While he’s no longer in his prime, he still showed some spark last season with the Vikings, starting 15 games. However, his stats have been declining, and he hasn’t had more than two interceptions in a season since 2016.
The question is, how much gas does he have left in the tank? Can he still contribute as a spot starter or provide valuable experience to a team? It’s hard to say, but considering his age (34) and recent performance, it’s likely he’s nearing the end of his career. Maybe he has enough left to start a few games, but it’s unclear how much more he can give.
Gilmore’s best years were with the New England Patriots, where he won a Super Bowl and was named a First-Team All-Pro in 2019. However, since leaving the Patriots, he hasn’t been able to replicate that level of success. His time with the Panthers and Vikings has been marked by injuries and inconsistent play.
At this point, Gilmore is likely looking at a limited role on a team, possibly as a veteran mentor or a depth piece. While he may not be the shutdown corner he once was, he can still provide value to a team looking for experience and leadership in the secondary.
