Cardinals Set to Kick Off Training Camp on July 22
The Arizona Cardinals are gearing up for the next phase of their offseason, and head coach Jonathan Gannon just gave fans a big heads-up: training camp is expected to start on Tuesday, July 22.
While the team hasn’t dropped the official word yet, Gannon confirmed the date during a chat with reporters. Right now, the Cardinals are wrapping up mandatory minicamp, and then it’s about a month of downtime before things get serious.
Once camp starts, the team will be back at State Farm Stadium, and Gannon is looking forward to seeing what his roster looks like when the pads come on.
“I’m excited,” Gannon said. “Camp will be a little more intense this year — safely, of course. But we’re gonna play real football.”
It sounds like rookies might report on July 22, with the full squad not far behind. Arizona’s first preseason game is set for August 9 against the Chiefs, and two of their three preseason games will be at home.
The Cardinals have been busy this offseason, especially on defense. They added big names like Josh Sweat, Dalvin Tomlinson, and Calais Campbell in free agency. In the draft, they used six of their seven picks on defense, including top prospects Walter Nolen and Will Johnson. Johnson is dealing with a minor hamstring issue, but Gannon says he should be good to go for camp.
After going 8-9 last season, the Cardinals are hoping all these new pieces can help them make a serious playoff push in 2025. Gannon thinks the team is moving in the right direction, especially with how quickly the new guys have picked things up.
“This offseason was just a stepping stone,” he said. “Now it’s about staying ready and hitting the ground running when camp kicks off.”
Stay tuned — the team should be making it official soon.
