They Doubted Him… But Now He’s Running the Show in a Whole New City!

Russell Wilson Is QB1 Again — But Not Where You Think

Russell Wilson is officially back in the driver’s seat — this time as the starting quarterback for the New York Giants.

Yep, the former Steelers (and Seahawks) QB just got the green light from Giants head coach Brian Daboll, who confirmed on Wednesday that Wilson will start the season under center. And no, that first-round rookie Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss won’t be jumping the line anytime soon. “These guys will be out here competing, but Russ is our starter,” Daboll said confidently.

So how did we get here?

Back in March, Wilson signed a one-year deal with the Giants worth up to $21 million (with $10.5 million guaranteed). But behind the scenes? He reportedly tried to re-sign with the Steelers before heading to New York — though that reunion didn’t quite work out.

Why not? Well, things got rocky in Pittsburgh. Toward the end of last season, Wilson’s performance dipped hard. And according to reports, Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith actually took away Wilson’s ability to call plays at the line of scrimmage — a move that didn’t sit well with Russ or people inside the building. One source even said it would’ve taken some serious relationship repair to bring him back.

So instead of looking back, Wilson’s moving on — and betting big on himself. At 36, he’s trying to prove he’s still got enough juice to lead a team and be more than just a locker room mentor. And with a new team, a fresh system, and a hungry coaching staff, he might just pull it off.

Stay tuned — this comeback tour could get interesting.
