Throwback: Saquon Barkley Knew Where Winston Was Headed All Along

Looks like Saquon Barkley has a bit of a fortune-telling side hustle. A video has resurfaced showing the Philadelphia Eagles running back predicting Jameis Winston’s recent signing with the New York Giants—nearly two months before it happened!

It all went down during Super Bowl media night when Winston, working as a Fox Sports digital correspondent, playfully asked Barkley, “Who should sign me in free agency?” Without missing a beat, Barkley fired back, “I think New York needs a quarterback right now.” Winston made sure to clarify—“You mean the Giants?”—and Barkley just laughed.

Well, fast forward to now, and boom—Winston is officially a Giant. The former Browns QB signed a two-year deal worth up to $16 million, and as of now, he’s expected to start. The Giants’ QB situation has been looking rough, with only Tommy DeVito on the roster before this move.

Of course, Winston’s spot isn’t locked in just yet. With the No. 3 pick in the upcoming draft, New York could still go after a rookie quarterback. And let’s not forget Aaron Rodgers is still floating around as a possible option. According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Winston’s signing doesn’t take the Giants out of the Rodgers sweepstakes.

Starter or not, Barkley totally called this one. Even if he was just joking at the time, it turns out he was spot on.
